This week was Tolsons first week of school. On Monday he was so excited. Scared too but mostly excited. They wear uniforms at his school so the night before we got his clothes out and set out his shoes and backpack and he was ready to go.

We are lucky enough to live right across the street from the school so Adalee and I walk him to school every morning. He loves his teacher Mrs De Lara and is excited to be learning Spanish. He is in a dual language program that is designed to help English speakers learn Spanish and Spanish speakers learn English. If we were to stay here long enough they say that the program has them speaking, reading and writing fluently by high school graduation. I hope we aren't here that long but I do hope he gets a good start on learning Spanish.

This has been a great chance to spend some one on one time helping Tolson get ready for school. He is so ready and I am sure is probably one of the oldest kids in his class. He is still my sweet little boy and I do miss him a little during the day but I also love spending alone time with Adalee! She misses her brother and is happy when he gets home (but she does love having mommy all to herself).

I am exited for all the things Tolson will learn in his school years and for how much he will grow. I am also excited for him to be able to learn Spanish right from the start. We love you Tolson and are excited for all the school adventures you will have.

This summer we spent a LOT of time at the pool here in our apartment community. I am sure I have posted pictures before but I wanted to share some I took this last week of summer vacation.

This pool is awesome. It has a beach entry and water spouts on the sides. The little ones love it. Adalee likes to see if she can make the water stop coming out and ends up spraying herself and anyone around!

SO that has been what we do a lot down here! Its hot hot hot! And that's saying a lot since I am from the Desert! We love our pool and will probably still be swimming for a few more months.

Tolson was so proud of his castle and hoped that even after we left it would stay up. After the first day he decided that he didn't really like the waves in the ocean so he played in the sand all day.

At 2 Adalee has quite the vocabulary. She loves to do things herself. She also loves to do everything her big brother does. She likes to eat strawberries, cheese, applesauce, hot dogs and grapes. She love to swim and thinks she is like the big kids in the water. She also loves to tell me big long sentences that don't mean anything but she loves being able to tell me something important.

So this summer as I said before we spent a LOT of time up in San Antonio with Idas family. One of the weekends I headed up there to help her clan and organize and she helped me make my first quilt. It was fun and hard and I love how it turned out.

You can't really see it very well but the stitching is a big star shape. We called it a Kapow (like the old comics when they would punch someone) The main band on the side is a superhero cartoon print so we tried to go along with that.

You can see it a little better on the back. Tolsons cousin Rory has a quilt made out of the same fabrics so now they have twin quilts. It was fun to make and he loves it.

In other news we have been spending a lot of time building legos at our house. The afternoons are so hot that we spend a lot of time inside. ( now don't go thinking I am a good mom and don't let my kids watch TV when its so hot outside, I do) We just love to play with legos. Tolson got a set that builds 6 different automobiles so we have been doing that a lot.

I will try to do better at my picture updates too! I hope you had as much fun as we did this week....

Ok so we started off this week (well actually ended last week) with driving to San Antonio on Friday to pick up Rory. Ida and I made it to the Temple for a quick initiatory session and had a good time trying to help get things ready for her Garage sale on Sat. Sat morning Tolson Rory Adalee and I headed out. Rory said in the car "this is going to be the best car ride ever" (I am not sure that the car ride lived up to his expectations but we made it home) We got home in time to have dinner gets baths done and head for bed. Sunday the kids enjoyed church and we had a quiet relaxing afternoon playing with legos and watching our kids favorite Sunday movie The Happiest Millionaire. Monday it was cloudy and not too hot so we headed out to the big playground in our apartments. The kids had fun pretending it was their fort and sending the monster trucks down the 3story slides. tuesday we went to the pool for Playgroup and Rory thought that it was the best pool ever. They splashed a swam for several hours enjoying a break from the heat. The afternoon was spent relaxing and playing Wii. Wednesday we went to the mall to see the kids summer movie Dolphin Tale and play at the play place inside the mall. The kids loved the movie and Rory gave his mom and dad a play by play on the phone after so I think he liked it too. It was cute! After the kids played at the play place for a while we rode the double decker merry-go-round and then headed home. After lunch and a nap for Adalee we went to Chick-fil-a for dinner and play time. While we were there it started to blow and rain but the kids thought it was great. When we left it was still raining and the boys started running and dancing in the rain. We went the the store and when we got out it had stopped. They were sad it stopped but still got to jump in some puddles. Thursday we went to the pool again enjoying it as much as we could and then in the afternoon the boys went with uncle Jason to Lowes to buy a saw. They had to have their "Manly Time" and had fun doing it. Friday we went to our friends the Browns so I could work on a project for Primary while the kids played. Then friday night we had a little pizza party. They each made their own pizza and we watched a movie and had a living room picinic complete with popcorn and cookies. Saturday we went to the church for our District Pioneer day celebration. They had breakfast, a parade for the kids and then games outside. It was very hot but at the end some of us had a water fight so it cooled us down a bit. I think that was the boys favorite part. Then we played wii had dinner and did hair cuts. The boys like having pretty much the same hair cut but Rory wasn't so sure he wanted it as short as Tolsons. They have had a great time and I hope they remember it for a long time. I am so glad that we lived close for these past few months and that these two little boys could get to know each other better. I am also so glad for the time I have been able to spend with Ida! She is an amazing woman and such an example to me! I am going to miss her but I am so glad I have been able to spend so much time with her over the last 5 months.

This next week is going to seem kind of boring without Rory here! I don't think I can compete with having a cousin stay with us! I hope you guys are having a good week too! I would love to hear whats going on with you all! (hint hint)

I love you all! - Wendy (and family)Wendyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07442941953906604935noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2404599101324842841.post-66386093529762948972012-06-17T14:26:00.001-07:002012-06-17T14:26:25.409-07:00Ramblings of a Hot Mama!Ok so really you all can blame Ida for this being bi-monthly because I keep
going to her house and when I do it throws me off for a few days.
So...

Week before last we went to the Ewings for a few days to help them
sort through rooms and get things ready to pack. Ida also helped me sew my
first quilt. She had left over fabric from Rory's quilt so we made a matching
one for Tolson. It was so much fun and we got a lot done too. We did our
normal things monday (recover from Sunday, clean up a bit and grocery shopping)
then tuesday we had playgroup at the pool again where I discovered that my
beings asked to help with girls camp means that I am the District Camp director
(more on that later) and Wed Tolson had preschool. Adalee and I packed us up
and we left straight from preschool to head to San Antonio. The drive really is
not too bad and we can get to Ida's house in about 2 1/2 hours. The kids do
great and we are there in no time. We had a great time!

We came home on
Saturday afternoon in just enough time to get the kids bathed and into bed.
Sunday morning was church where this month I am teaching the song Nephi's courage to the
kids. They are having fun with it and I have been trying to work on the piano
music for it so that I can play with them (we don't have anyone in our branch
that plays, well we do have one senior sister that plays during sacrament
meeting but is not available for primary) anyway its fun trying to teach them
while using a CD but we get by. Anyway after Church the primary presidency went
to go deliver some paperwork for our kids parents to fill out and to give them
some information on changes we are making to our primary. We got to go to some
interesting parts of town and we were glad that one of us speaks fluent
spanish. What an adventure! at one of the houses I could have tripped and
fallen into mexico if I wasn't careful. It was a bit scary being three white,
nicely dressed sisters driving a big SUV down to some of these areas but we
survived and got most of the families visited.

This week we again
recovered from our trip as well as trying to get ready for our trip this next
week (be prepared you probably wont hear from me) nothing too exciting. Pool
again for playgroup. We probably have about 10 families coming and the kids
have such a great time! We also had a branch fathers day potluck thing on
friday at the ranch of a member. It is fun to get to know more of the people in
our branch. Saturday Jason had a daddy day with Tolson (which is becoming a
tradition here) and Adalee and I went out together too! We had a fun day ending
at the pool and daddy going to bed early (he started midnights again for the
next week). Besides having blond hair and blue eyes people would think my kids
are natives because they are soooo dark skinned. One of these days I will take
a picture of them and post it on here so you can see just how dark they
really are!!!

Today I got to conduct the primary kids singing in
sacrament meeting "My Dad"! I have not been the one teaching them this song and
have not even been in the room much while they practice ( I am out begging for
subs to help us) so it was a little scary trying to conduct the 10 kids that
showed up to sing. They did great although I am not sure you could hear
anything but me singing. Oh well it is done and now I can say I have done
that!

So on the camp note, a month or two ago when we were speaking in
church I mentioned something about camp in my talk and afterwards the district YW
president came up to me in the hall and asked if I would be willing to help out
with camp. She said it was not an official calling but was wondering it I would
be willing. I of course said sure and we left it at that. Well, this week at
playgroup we were talking again and she said we need to start thinking about
themes for camp. Our camp is in March over spring break since we can't go past
the checkpoint and its too hot to do it down here in the summer. Anyway she
told me that she is so excited to have me as the District Camp Director!!! I
guess after helping with a stake camp of over 200 people, 50 should be no big
deal right? Well at least I have 9 months to work on this!!!! Wish me luck
though!

We do love it here and are glad for the experiences we are
having. I am exited to be going "home" next week to Az and to be with my
sisters! What a nice cool break that will be. I hope you all are doing well
and that you are having a great summer!

Until next time (whenever that
may be),

Love, WendyWendyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07442941953906604935noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2404599101324842841.post-10670972629059311212012-06-03T17:18:00.002-07:002012-06-03T17:18:54.751-07:00Another weekend Trip! This week(s) at the Kemptons....

Soo I guess I should just call this a
semi regular posting as I have not been great about getting it done every week.
Last weekend we went to Ida's and had a wonderful time so that thru me off for
my sunday afternoon of compiling this letter. Two weeks ago Jason worked
midnight shift for almost 11 days in a row and then he got three days off and
went back to day shift. During the three days off we headed up to Ida's house
to add to her chaos and hopefully distract her from it for a while too. We got
there thursday night, put the kids to bed and went our for pie. Friday we got
up and headed to the zoo. Rory stayed home from school to go with us and we had
a great time. We had to take a break in the middle to go deliver meals on
wheels with Ida (which was fun) and then went back to the zoo for a few more
hours. What a great zoo. I posted a bunch of pictures from our trip on
facebook and will probably put them on here too if you want to see them. We
sort of skipped lunch so on the way home we stopped a Freddy's. It was GOOD!
We had frozen custard sundaes and french fries. We will have to go there again
for sure! Friday night we made a quick dinner and then went to the temple.
Geoffrey couldn't find his recommend so unfortunately he didn't get to come but
we went and had a great time anyway! With Jason being gone for 5 months and
then moving and everything we hadn't been in a while so it was nice to go (and
to have free babysitters). Saturday we got up and headed to Canyon Lake. It
was a great cloudy day for the most part and we rented two boats. A little
speed boat and a pontoon boat. We didn't ski but got a big tube to ride on
behind the boat and we all had a good time. After returning the boats we let
the little ones play on the beach for a bit and the moms sitting on the sand got
a bit too much sun. We all had a great time and the kids slept very well that
night. Ida, Jason and I of course made a trip to our favorite FroYo place and
enjoyed some yummy frozen treats. Sunday we went to church and then after lunch
headed out to the Japanese Sunken Gardens. They were built in an old query and
had some huge koi fish. We walked around for a bit and then road the train
around Brakenridge park. It was a great Sunday afternoon and a wonderful
weekend.

After having a weekend like that its hard to remember then
little fun things we do during the week. We have started having play group here
at our awesome splash pool every week and this week since school got out we
started a potluck lunch there too! What fun. I am really loving meeting so
many nice people here and having friends for my kids. I still miss seeing
Michelle almost everyday and having my close girlfriends back in Tucson (you know who you are) but I am
still enjoying our new home. I went to a girls night out on Friday which was very fun but still not the same! I am sure it will eventually feel like home here but for now I am missing Tucson.

In other news our TV died this week. We
bought an old Wii from a friend and had just bought wii sports when it died.
Not having a TV is not that big of a deal but when its 105 outside every
afternoon its harder without one. So we went TV hunting this weekend but
decided we will just take Ida's extra one she offered us and wait to buy a new
one until later. We also got some MORE fish. We didn't get gold fish this time
and have been treating our tank for the ick that the other fish had. We got
some cool zebra dannios and hope they will live longer this time. We are not
naming them (since we can't tell them apart and they are too fast to see well)
so we wont get too attached in case they die too. (we don't have a great track
record). But they are fun and I hope we can get some more cool fish soon.

We love you all and miss you! I am so glad we are close to the Ewing's
for a short time and am secretly glad their assignment is only 2 years so they
can come back soon. I am VERY excited to see my sisters soon and those I will
get to visit while stopping in Tucson. I hope you are all doing well and not
melting like we are!~ Thank heavens for the pools here!

Until next
time (whenever that may be) - WendyWendyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07442941953906604935noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2404599101324842841.post-19933628161546720692012-05-20T19:13:00.002-07:002012-05-20T19:13:55.437-07:00MidnightsOk so I know it had been a few weeks since my weekly update so sorry about
that. I went to my sister Ida's one weekend and then last weekend was mothers day so I
enjoyed being spoiled, but I am back!

Last week we got Tolson
registered for school. He will be in the dual language program at the school
which I am very excited about. They teach half the day in English and half in
Spanish and they have it set up so that the ESL kids can learn English better
and the SSL kids can learn Spanish better. I am really hoping tat the few years
we have down here will help Tolson really pick up the language. He was very
excited about getting registered for school until he learned he needs a TB test
(they kept calling it a shot) and now he says he doesn't want to go. Hopefully
he will live!

Here is the fun we had this week. (well as much as I can
remember)

I don't really remember what days we did what so I am going to
just tell you all the fun we had. Tolson started preschool this week. I met
this super nice gal here that does a preschool in her home. She just moved here
in Jan so she doesn't really know anyone and only has one other student
other than her own daughter. She really want to get more for next year but
doesn't really know very many people. (she is not BP or LDS) She offered to
have Tolson come for May and June for half the cost if i would please share with
my friends about her school. So tolson went and had a wonderful time. Its only
one day a week right now and he wants to go everyday!

We went to the
pool probably 3 times this week (once inviting his teacher and her kids) We LOVE
our pool. Its a splash pool with lots of kid friendly features. Two different
parks and the library once. We also went to story time at Chick-fil-a. Jason
started working the midnight shift so he gets home about 9am and goes to bed. I
try to get the kids out of the house for the morning so he can have it quiet, so
we venture to lots of random places. We drove through downtown this week and it
is like we are in puerto pinasco. But it looks like there could be some fun
shopping down there. I am not sure I would go until I learn a bit more Spanish
but maybe when mom and dad come we can go. (maybe)

Anyway our life
has been different with this shift change but not as hard as I thought. Jason
is up about 3 or 4pm and plays with the kids and helps with dinner. We put them
to bed and then he takes a nap until he has to get up and get ready for work. I
like it! I get to see him for several hours during the day and get the evenings
to myself!

So nothing really exciting to report. I am full swing into
my calling in Primary. We have several positions that aren't filled so mostly I
am running around asking people I have never met to come help with nursery or
teach a class, but its good! I actually feel very adequate here. Most of the
members are young in the church and don't have a lot of confidence in themselves
but its fun to help where I can and try to take them by the hand and help them
along.

I hope you are all doing well and enjoying life. I am sad I
will miss my nephews arrival home from his mission but I will hopefully see him next month when I come.

Until next week!Wendyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07442941953906604935noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2404599101324842841.post-31134006121328401312012-05-08T14:06:00.001-07:002012-05-08T14:06:11.497-07:00Picture time!

The library had a story time "graduation" for the kids which I admit is weird but still a fun party. they had little hats, goodies bag with a new book in them and a certificate for each kid. They fed them lunch and read a story and did some songs. The kids had fun and got a free book so no complaints from me!!!

We have been searching for a Laredo TX post card to send to friends and family but cannot find any so we decided to make our own. We found this cool landmark thing at a travel center outside of town. So some of you may be seeing this in the mail soon!

While visiting the Ewings this past weekend, Adalee got into Delaney's room and found her makeup. I must say at least she put it on her face in sort of the right places. If she was going for the clown look she was spot on!!!

We had a good week! got new carpet put in the apartment. has story time graduation and then took a fun weekend trip to San Antonio to hang out with Ida's family! We love living close to them and will be very sad when they leave us in a few months! Oh well! See you all next week!
Wendyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07442941953906604935noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2404599101324842841.post-24120182948176331842012-04-29T17:31:00.002-07:002012-04-29T17:33:30.052-07:00Oh Happy days!Monday- Went to story time and Chick-fil-a and the kids had a great time. Adalee did not like meeting the cow though at the end but Tolson was in there doing the hocky-pocky with it. We had fun and then went grocery shopping. I forgot how good the chicken nuggets are there! I might have to go every week to story time!

Tuesday - So today we were supposed to get the house papers signed and notarized so we could Fed-ex them to AZ so the buyers could sign and close on Friday. I was a stress case today! Not really sure why but I really was! We went to the Library for story time and Tolson got his OWN LIBRARY CARD! He is very excited about this! Anyway, then after stressing all day we went to Jason's FTO's (Field Training Officer) house and his wife did the Notary on our stuff. They were super nice and told us about some other fun local places to eat.

Wed- I went first thing and dropped off the papers to Fed-ex and was done with it. Then about 15 min later I realized I had forgot to include the checks I needed to. Not to worry our awesome realtor (and friend) saved the day for me. Then we went to Playgroup at our park and then we all went to the pool when the kids (and moms) got too hot. What a fun time we all had! It was hot but a nice breeze cooled us off. I am really starting to love these awesome ladies here! We are all here away from our families and they are so welcoming and loving and real! I love that about them! Its great!

Thursday - There wasn't much to do today so we went to the store and got some new fish! 5 this time. They are smaller goldfish and are all different so we named them. BFF (for black fin fish), Paleface (he has a white face and tummy) Black spot/blackfin, White tale and Holey Poley fish (he has a little hole in his tale). They are doing great so far so we will hope we can keep this bunch alive!

Friday - THE HOUSE CLOSED!!!! we no longer own our home and it is a happy and sad day! I am so glad to be done with all of this and sad at the same time that we don't own our cute little house anymore! We loved that house and all that happened in it! All three of our kids were born while living there. We had several different jobs there and so many memories with friends and family! We will miss our little house on Emberwood but will always have the memories.

Saturday - What a day! Jason went on a bike ride on a new trail ( I guess they are all new here) and met some other riders he might go ride with again. Then we went to a park close by for a friend's sons birthday party! It was great they had a jumping castle with a slide that Tolson loved! and we got to mingle and Jason got to meet some of the awesome ladies I have been able to become friends with. Then we left there and came home to put Adalee to bed and Tolson and I headed to the pool for another birthday party! This one was a bit more low key and fun just hanging out with a few friends. It was a fun exhausting day.

Sunday - We got to speak in church today and I got a new calling. I haven't been sustained or set apart yet so I can't spill the beans but I am excited! I think our talks went well. When we got there I was laughing because it said on the program "youth speaker by invitation" and I thought great we might have 1/2 hour each. Turns out we got about 15 min total between the two of us. It worked out fine and was good for me to have a reason to really study one of the general Conference talks. We took naps and had a great easy quiet Sunday. We invited out downstairs neighbors to dinner and had a great time visiting while the kids played! A great way to end a fun week.

p.s. 3 out of 5 of the fish are dead already! I guess we are not very good fish people!
Wendyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07442941953906604935noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2404599101324842841.post-51670185207887684862012-04-22T16:16:00.001-07:002012-04-22T16:16:33.607-07:00Week 4

Monday - Recovered from our weekend trip. We went to Hobby Lobby for the first time and got some groceries. Nothing new or exciting. Had FHE after dinner and I worked out. good day but nothing exciting.

Tuesday - We went to story time which the kids love and I got some books I had reserved. I really have missed reading and am anxious to get going again. I can only check out books for two weeks here so I better read fast. Lost another fish and the other two are on their way out as well. I think we need to get some PH balance stuff for our tank and see what we can do to help our fish survive for more then two weeks.

Wednesday - We had play group here at our apartment play ground. I really should have added a picture of it because it is three stories high. Well not three actual stories but three levels. The kids had a great time and the moms tried not to have heart attacks from them being up so high. I am so glad that both branches on the north side of town do this so I can get to know some other sister in the area that aren't in our branch. The kids have fun and the moms talk. went swimming at our great splash pool again. I am sure you are going to be hearing that a LOT this summer.

Thursday - The kids and I went shopping to try to find shoes for Adalee. didn't find anything but had fun anyway! We also got some water conditioner stuff for the fish tank. We will hope that we can figure this out and stop being fish killers. After the kids were in bed my neighbor and I went out shopping. It was nice not to go with the kids and not to go by myself after dark. I am sure I would be perfectly safe but its a good excuse to have a friend come with you. We had a fun and I bought a really cute skirt(even though I was looking for shoes).

Friday - Had a good day not really doing much. Tried to clean the house a bit since we had a sitter coming over. Then in the afternoon we went to the pool. The kids had fun but Adalee tripped on her towel and did a face plant. She now had a nice scab on her nose and upper lip. Poor girl. Still stinking cute though. Then Jason and I went on a date. It has been a long time since we did and it was so nice. Our downstairs neighbors babysat for us (we are going to trade) so we went to dinner at the local Mexican Hamburger place. It was so good. the menu was even in Spanish but we figured it out. The waitress knew enough English and we knew enough Spanish to get by. The funny part was that I guess on Mexican burgers they put ham. (It is a HAMburger after all) Anyway it was good. Then we went to see Hunger Games and had some Frozen yogurt I showed Jason what HEB is all about and then we headed home. What a fun and great night. Too bad it ended horribly! I was up ALL night throwing up form the awesome food we had. Its really too bad to because it was good and inexpensive. Oh well, Live and learn.

Sat - Nothing too exciting since I was still not doing well. Jason was wonderful and got up with the kids and let me sleep until 10 then I just layed around and the kids played. Jason went for a bike ride on a trail he found at the bike shop here. He said it was a good and challenging ride (which is what he likes) anyway we just ran some errands and watched a movie at home so I didn't have to think about or do anything.

Sunday was good! Still no callings. There are rumors that they will be changing the branches brck to English and Spanish branches but we don't know anything for sure yet. They did have an English RS this week so that was good. A nice easy low key Sunday! Always good.

I hope you all are doing well and don't mind reading my ramblings. We love and miss our family and friends back home but are making new ones here and do feel very welcome!
Wendyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07442941953906604935noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2404599101324842841.post-53029307015154972482012-04-11T06:27:00.006-07:002012-04-17T13:26:34.973-07:00Week 3

So I sort of have to continued from last week before I start this week. Sunday when we went to the park with some friends from the branch the kids were playing on the park playground and Adalee fell off and landed on her knees and hands. She cried for a long time and wouldn't walk or even stand on it. no swelling or anything so we still arn't sure what happened. My Dr brother thinks it might be a bone bruise. Whatever it is it hurts a lot.

Mon - We ventured to Target today but was not as impressed as I thought I would be. Tolson played almost all day with his friend since there was no school. They also have another neighbor friend who is a little more rough then they are so Tolson doesn't really like him yet. Also we lost our first fish. (They got some fish for our new fish tank on their daddy day) Tolson handled it really well. Good thing they are only $.29 each!

Tuesday - We found the library and went to story time. This was a little hard for Adalee as she is still not able to stand or walk. We got a library card and checked out some fun books. Then we went to Wal-Mart AGAIN and got one more shelving unit for the house. I think I finally got most everything in a place now. I think I have been to Wal-Mart more in the last two weeks then I did in the last year in Tucson. oh well so it goes I guess. We also had a Family fun night at the splash pool. We had a picnic and swam and splashed in the pool. The water was a bit cold so we didn't stay too long but the kids had fun and it was nice to be together.

Wed - We went to a new park for Playgroup and had a great time. I got to know more of the LDS ladies in the area and the kids had a blast. Adalee was walking a bit more today and did fine on the playground.

Thursday - We went back to the same park and played again. A lady in one of the other branches is moving so she dropped off her kids at the park so they could play so we all went back to play with them and help keep track of them.

Friday - We went shopping in the morning and then When Jason got home we went to San Antonio! The kids did pretty well on the drive and we saw several trains along the way. We got there late but the kids were too excited to go to bed so they played for a bit and then crashed. The adults went to our favorite FroYo place and it was yummy.

Sat - Tolson got to go to Rory's t-ball game and got to be a little helper lining up the bats and stuff. He loved it. Ida and I went grocery shopping with Adalee and Jason helped Geoffrey with some manly stuff! That night we went downtown for dinner and the River Walk. It was fun. We also actually went to the Alamo which I hadn't been to even though I had been to the river walk several times before. It was fun

Sunday - Went to church, had a yummy lunch and then got ready to head home. The kids were a little less excited on the way back so it was a longer drive. We were glad we went and are so glad Ida will be so close for a few more months.

I am trying to get better about taking pictures so you all can see and read about our goings on!

Wendyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07442941953906604935noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2404599101324842841.post-24101090748287837762012-04-08T20:04:00.002-07:002012-04-08T20:12:49.648-07:00Week 2Monday – Jason Started his first day of work. Nothing super exciting as they couldn’t really do much training until the other three new guys got there on wed. They did some paperwork stuff and drove him around to just show him some stuff. Fun but nothing too exciting. The kids and I
just worked on the apartment some more and got some decorations up in the kitchen.
Tuesday – I can’t really remember much about Tuesday except in the afternoon we went with our neighbors to the splash pool. The kids had a great time and the moms did too. It’s fun to have an insider to give me tips like Don’t go shopping on Fridays or sat because all of Mexico is here
shopping and the lines are really long.
Wed - We went to a LDS play group and met some people from our branch and from the other
branches. The kids had fun and we got to see another park. There are a lot of parks here in Laredo and they are very well kept. Most of them have a shade over them too. I met Jason after work at the Drivers License place and we got our new ones ordered. They have to make them in
Austin and send them to us so it may take a few weeks. This was not nearly as painful as trying to
get our cars registered.
Thursday- I made Banana bread and then we swam again. Nothing too exciting but a fun day.
Friday- Tolson’s friend had the day off of school so they played most of the day together. Friday
night we took a drive and grabbed some dinner out. There is a taco place here called Taco Palenque that they say is really good but we have not ventured to try it yet. We will soon I am sure!
Sat –The Easter bunny comes to our house on Sat and the kids thought it was great. They totally
forgot he was coming. Then, Tolson and Jason had a daddy day and Adalee and I went shopping. Nothing exciting for us just groceries and stuff for Easter. Then in the afternoon
we went to help a family in our branch with their pond. It was having issues and I offered Jason’s help earlier so we called them and went over there. We ended up staying for dinner and went driving with them to see the river. It was a lot of fun and there is actually a lot of water in the Rio Grande here. ALso, I figured out a house I was looking at renting before we came here was right up the street from them and right next to the neighborhood pool and park. I am kind of kicking myself for not going for it because I really like their neighborhood and there are lots of members and BP there. Maybe it will be for rent again in a year.
Sun – We went to our branch for the first time today and it was interesting. Sacrament meeting was great. Gospel Doctrine was good but the poor teacher also had his baby so I offered to take him and ended up having to leave because he was grouchy. Then RS was all in Spanish so one of the sisters has to translate for me and one other sister. It was interesting to say the least, But a good experience too! We are going to have an Easter dinner of Ham and Shrimp curried eggs with salad and then possibly go meet some families from the branch at the park in their
neighborhood. There are things in the city that I don’t love and things that I do. I can see why
people don’t like it and want to leave and I myself don’t want to be here forever but I am trying to find all the great things about it while we are here. I hope you all are having a great
week too!Wendyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07442941953906604935noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2404599101324842841.post-28348584195610778342012-04-01T19:57:00.000-07:002012-04-08T20:04:38.486-07:00Skip Ahead... not catch upOk so for those of you that don't know ( if anyone even still check on here) We moved. I haven't posted anything since August and instead of trying to play catchup I am just going to start from now. Jason finally got a job with BP and we moved to south Texas about two weeks ago. I have started sending a weekly letter to my family with the goings on of the week and thought i should put it on here as well to keep you all informed too. I promise I wil try to do better about other posts as well but at least you wil get the day to day stuff.

So without further ado... Here is week one!

Kempton Kingdom weekly Update!
OK so since we are far from family and friends I stole this idea from a friend and will
hopefully be doing a weekly letter just to fill you all in on our weekly
doings.
Monday – SO after a long, long drive we made it here at about 3:30 got our key (only one since the other one is still in the mail somewhere between here and Tucson) and got in. We started unloading and had the Elders Quorm President show up to help. He lives in the same building as
us so it was easy for him. Then about 5:30 three more guys from the branch showed up to help so it didn’t take us that long to get it all unloaded and in the apartment. Now was the challenge of where to put it. Delaney and Brannick were a big help during all of this but I think we
wore them out a bit.
Tuesday – Today was just about putting things together and unpacking boxes. Nothing exciting.
Wed – I took Brannick and Delaney to Dilly to meet Ida. I think they had fun but were ready to sleep in their own beds! More unpacking! Thursday – we didn’t do a whole lot of anything. We took a drive around town to get used to the area.
Friday – well today we attempted to get our cars registered and drivers license’s changed. To make a long story short, here was our day. Went to dealership for state inspections.
Then went downtown to wait in line 4 times to get all the right forms to get the car registered and new plates. Then went back to the dealership because they left a number out on the VIN for the Land Cruiser and back to downtown then back home for a form we forgot then back downtown and got the LC done. Then to the license place to discover we did not have the right documentation with us for this one too! SO we came home and will try again later. Long day but we got half way done!
Sat- We watched Morning conf and then we went to a Laredo Families Easter Egg Hunt. This is a
group of Law Enforcement families. Not just BP but lots of different types. It was fun and I got to meet two other sisters from the Branch. It was fun and the kids seemed to have a great time!
Sun- we stayed in our PJ’s and watched conference from home. The big message I got was that I
need to focus on my family more! There is so much we can do to help our kids be great!
So there you go a glimpse in the life of the Kemptons! I hope you enjoy these and I hope I can keep up with them. I am excited and a bit scared at the challenges that will be before us adjusting to this very different community! Wish me luck!Wendyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07442941953906604935noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2404599101324842841.post-35673007347980009092011-08-09T13:33:00.001-07:002011-08-09T14:04:18.953-07:00Birthday Party~

Ok so we had a little party for Adalee's 1st Birthday! I know, I know she is only 1 and has no idea if we have a party or not but it was more for me then for her! We had a bunch of friends and family come over to help us celebrate. We first let the kids run around in the backyard and play on the slip-n-slide. They had a lot of fun! (as you can see!)

You are a sweet girl with a quick smile! I have loved to watch you grow into the fun little(almost) toddler you are. You are so happy and silly and love your daddy and brother. I love getting you up from your nap and having you giddy to see me ( or to get out of bed but i think its me) On your first birthday I want you to know how much we all love you! So far in life you can crawl, stand on your own, feed yourself (sort of) you say Dada and mama and tatu but I don't think you really know what those mean yet. You love to climb on anything you can find. You like to drive your brothers cars and make sounds for them. You have the brightest blue eyes and adorable smile that make people in the grocery stores stop me to talk to you. Thank you for coming to our family! We love you so much!

Love, Your mama!

Wendyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07442941953906604935noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2404599101324842841.post-34181171817510300542011-07-04T12:31:00.001-07:002011-07-04T12:44:21.986-07:00Let Freedom Ring!

I love this awesome country! Sometimes I wonder with the government we have and the leaders of this country making choices that I don't agree with but i still love this country. I loved in a country with socialized medicine and don't want that, I have visited places where the government is corrupt and has lost a lot of control and I don't want that, and I know that even with all the "stuff" going on I don't like this is still a blessed country. We sang the national anthem yesterday in church and I had tears come to my eyes. What a great song to remind up of all that has com into making and keeping this country free. Free to choose, free to live, free to speak and free to worship. We are free to raise our children how we want to, free to defend our home and family. My sister has a brother in law that just arrived in Afganastan and he has been sending letters telling about the conditions there and what they are having to live with and endure. I am so grateful for those who are willing to leave their home and family to defend our country and those that cannot defend themselves. SO with that I just want to day!

I am so thankful for the beautiful land in which I live! We all struggle with different things everyday! We have good days and bad days but we keep them to ourselves! We need to share these parts of ourselves, we need to know we are not alone in this. I am sure most of you know several women that you see and just think, "Man they really have it all together, their house is always clean, they always look amazing, their kids are well behaved and quiet and nothing seems to frazzle them." I am sure that there is something about them that is not always perfect! We all have those things.

I for one have many things! Now I am not saying whoa is me or that my life is hard (it certainly could be harder) but I am saying I am a real mom that lives in a real, usually not clean house who on most days has something smeared on my shoulder or pant leg. I love stopping by a friends house in the afternoon and seeing that they too are still in their PJ's! Or talking to a friend and hearing them admit to taking some kind of medication that helps them be a better wife and mother. Or having another admit that they don't really like their 11year old today! I love it when we can talk about struggles we are having with our kids and the things we are trying so that our child will not sound his siren type cry that can be heard from across Costco! WE ARE REAL PEOPLE WITH REAL LIVES AND REAL STRUGGLES! We need to embrace these and help each other realize that we are not alone in this. We have each other! We need to stop comparing ourselves to others and start embracing the people that we are at our best and worse! We all have those days when our husband gets home and we grab our keys and holler GOOD LUCK as we walk out the door. ( We also have the days when life is Really really good and we wouldn't change a thing! I love relishing in the fact that this is real life! Not some Mormon mommy blog where our house looks AMAZING all the time, there is fresh baked bread or cookies coming out of the oven everyday and our children are perfectly well behaved scriptoriun who can teach Gospel Doctrine with the best of them.

I am glad there are some moms out there that do seem to have it all together! I am glad for the ideas they share with us of how to make our lives better and I am so glad there are beautiful women who inspire and encourage us to be the best we can! The day before Jason was so sick and was not sure he was going to make it(to the wedding). I was a little worried but we got him up to mesa and hoped for the best. The next morning we went to the Temple, took pictures (best idea ever) and got married at noon. I don't remember a lot about that crazy day but I do remember the feelings I had as I knew I would be with this man I loved forever. We had a fun reception that night and danced and laughed like kids. Spent a wonderful week up in the snowy mountains and began our life together. Now 8 years and three kids later we are even more in love and still make each other laugh.

Thank you Jason for 8 amazing years. You really do make my life the wonderfulness that it is!

I LOVE YOU!

Wendyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07442941953906604935noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2404599101324842841.post-17124429232985868862011-03-09T08:08:00.000-08:002011-03-09T08:17:09.134-08:00Funk!WARNING* I am venting!!! read at your own risk!

OK so lately I have been feeling in a funk. both physically and mentally. I am so done with the post pregnancy body of mine. I can't fit my clothes, I really don't like the way my body looks right now and don't get me started on the roll of bread dough I am carrying around on my middle. My skin is being funky (who sold us the lie that acne is only for the teenage years) I get headaches all the time and I am just tired. I try to exercise and feel like it is doing nothing for me. I just feel like some days I am sinking into this place where I am not happy! I do realize I am so blessed and should be so happy but really I just get grumpy and frustrated when I think about me. I feel stuck with my body I feel stuck with my life and I feel like I am not making any progress. I know I will be fine. I am just in a funk and I know this will pass too but oh how annoying it is to be in it. ugh! I just want to scream and cry and run and have a little pity party and then feel better but I know those things won't make me feel better. Not really sure what the solution is yet but I will keep looking.

I am sorry to vent but I guess I just needed to get this off my chest. Thanks for listening!Wendyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07442941953906604935noreply@blogger.com1
